Roger Williams Board Member's Racial Slur Triggers Student Response

The Tax Prof Blog reports today that law students at
Roger Williams are demanding the removal of
Ralph R. Papitto's name from the law school
following his resignation from the university's board of
trustees for his use of a racial slur during a board
discussion of diversity.

The blog post links to numerous news stories and a
letter from Papitto in which he responds to complaints.

Archive of Documents on "Prisoners of the War on Terror"

The University of Minnesota's Center for Bioethics
and Human Rights has announced its new online
archive of government documents describing medical
operations in U.S. prisoner of war facilities in
Iraq, Afghanistan and Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.
The archive currently contains more than 60,000 pages
of indexed White House and Defense Department
policies, prison medical records, autopsy reports,
criminal investigations, sworn witness statements
and e-mails involving the Armed Forces and the FBI.

State Department International Agreements Collection Temporarily Removed

The State Department’s collection of international agreements,
(usually found at http://foia.state.gov/SearchColls/CollsSearch.asp),
has been temporarily removed.

Mary Rumsey, Foreign, Comparative & International Law Librarian
at the University of Minnesota Law Library, reports that the Treaty
Affairs Department informed her that the collection will be back on
its usual page within a couple of weeks.

FBI Posts Online Case Files on Watergate

beSpacific (7/20/2007) links to the Watergate
case files recently made available by the FBI.

Web Resource for Access to Government Stock Photos

Uncle Sam's Photos is a great web resource for
photos and images from government web sites that
you can use to enliven your course materials or
Blackboard course site. Some of the subjects covered
are: the arts, history, foreign relations, the
military, the environment, spies and Congress.

One note of warning. The web site administrator has
not verified that all of the images linked from the site
are in the public domain, so copyright restrictions may
apply.
